SDA: Specialist Disability Accommodation

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is an NDIS term and refers to specialist accommodation for people who require specialist housing solutions, including to assist with the delivery of supports that cater for their extreme functional impairment or very high support needs”.

Levels of SDA accessible housing

Improved liveability
Is
the entry level standard for new SDA housing.

Fully accessible
Is the next level for people with significant physical impairment.

High physical support – is the highest level for people requiring very high

levels of support.

 High Physical Support (HPS)

Provides more than just wheelchair accessibility. Features include; larger rooms, vanity and basins that are accessible in seated or standing position and structural provision for ceiling hoists. Furthermore

HPS homes must meet all of the Liveable Housing Australia – Platinum level (the highest) standards.
